Another successful year is in the books for the Furthering Community Unity (FCU) Team’s annual ‘Everyone’s Gotta Eat’ food drive powered by Shell Federal Credit Union. The food drive is annually hosted throughout the month of May to help fill the shelves of local food pantries before the summer months. During the food drive monetary donations and non-perishable food items for people and pets were collected at all eight Shell Federal Credit Union locations.

Other Notes: Help fill the shelves at local food pantries around your Shell FCU branch by donating non-perishable food items at any 8 Shell FCU locations. Don't forget about the pets, that's right, Shell FCU will also be collecting food for the animals at local animal shelters.
Join the fun as local non-profits, not-for-profits, and volunteer organizations gather for the Volunteer Expo at the Pasadena Convention Center on April 8th from 4 to 7PM. The Volunteer Expo is FREE and open to everyone. Students are encouraged to attend as volunteer hours are excellent additions to resumes and college applications. Plus, amazing prizes will be given away … including a mini iPad!

Other Notes: Shell FCU Staff will be participating in the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s Go Texan Day on February 28th . Employees will submit pictures to be entered into a contest via Facebook that Shell FCU’s fans can ‘like’ to determine one winner from two categories:
- Best Dressed Cowboy/Cowgirl
- Best Cowboy Boots

Other Notes: Join the FCU Team in making no sew fleece blankets for kids in need throughout the community. The FCU Team will join together with the community to make blankets that will later be taken to local kids in need. Feel free to bring your own fleece to create a special blanket; you will need two 1 yard pieces of fleece usually one with a pattern and the other a solid color. 2013 was a year filled with new events and fundraisers for the Furthering Community Unity (FCU) Team powered by Shell FCU. From walking animals at the Pasadena Animal Shelter, to collecting used textiles at SFCU locations, the FCU Team has been busy finding new ways to help out their surrounding communities.
During the month of November the FCU Team will be hosting their annual Cell Phones for Soldiers phone drive. Cell Phones for soldiers is a nonprofit organization that collects gently used cell phones and phone accessories to be recycled into calling cards for active military members overseas to call home for the holidays.
